  • When should I order my cake?                 

 As soon as possible! During busy seasons we can book up to 8 weeks ahead so the more notice the better to avoid disappointment. But we try very hard to accommodate all orders at any time so go ahead and send an email.


  • How do I order a cake?

To request a quote feel free to complete this form or send us an email to info@lovesugarcakes.com. Your email should include the date of your event, how many people you will need to serve, the delivery location and a description of what you are looking for. Any inspiration pictures of what you are looking for will be very helpful to provide you will an accurate quote.


  • How much are custom cakes?

All cakes are completely custom designed and crafted for your unique event and begin at $120. They increase from there based on size and complexity of the design. A number of other design elements will increase the price of your cake such as the addition of cake toppers, sugar flowers, fresh flowers, hand sculpted figurines, intricate detailing and multi-tiered designs.


  • Is there a minimum order?

A lot of planning and set up is involved in the creation of a custom cake, each one begins at $120 and increases from there based on size and complexity of the design.


  • Do I have to leave a deposit? How can I make payment?

To finalize your order a non-refundable 50% deposit is required. Once this payment is received your order is finalized. The balance of your order is due on the day of delivery.

Payments can be made by email transfer to info@lovesugarcakes.com, credit card, Paypal or (if time permits) regular mail.


  • Can my cake be delivered?

With the exception of wedding cakes, we offer complimentary delivery within the Downtown Vancouver core. Outside of this area a delivery fee will apply. Please include your delivery address with your quote request to receive a quote for delivery.
Wedding cakes begin at $75 for delivery and setup at your venue
Please note we do not deliver to the Fraser Valley.


  • Can I pick up my cake myself and save the delivery fee?

We strongly urge you not to pick up your custom cakes. The transport of these fragile creations is not easy, we still get nervous about it ourselves! Sharp movements, water, heat etc. are all factors that can destroy the cake you’ve just invested in.
However, if you are still determined to do the pick up on your own then we wish you lots of luck but cannot guarantee the condition of the cake after it leaves our workshop. You’re on your own baby!


  • Can cakes be shipped?

Sorry, we do not ship cakes. (Can you even imagine the mess?!)


  • How are cakes packaged?

Most small cakes will come in a pink bakery box. But as our cakes are often crazy shapes, sizes and heights an average bakery box will not do. In these situations the cake will be delivered in large cardboard box/cardboard contraption we rig up to fit and protect the cake on its journey to you.


  • How long will my cake stay fresh?

Buttercream covered cakes will stay moist and fresh for up to a week when covered completely or stored in an airtight container in the fridge. Fondant covered cakes have an even longer life and will stay fresh for nearly two weeks.
This is good to know if you are planning to have your cake delivered a day or so before your event.


  • How should I store my cake?

Cakes should never be stored in direct sunlight or near heat.
Cakes should never be stored where they will be in contact with water (water and fondant are enemies and water always wins).
Your cake will be fine to sit out of the fridge for the duration of your event and beyond (up to 10hrs depending on the weather and venue). But we recommend that to keep your cake looking perfect the entire time it is on display that it stay refrigerated beforehand.


  • Ingredients?

Cake ingredients include combinations of: flour, sugar, baking powder, eggs, salted pasteurized butter, water, vegetable oil, cocoa, fresh carrots, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, fresh lemon zest, lemon juice, vanilla.
Buttercream ingredients are: eggs, white sugar, salted pasteurized butter, vanilla, gel food colouring.
Buttercream flavours are made using: semi-sweet Callebaut chocolate, white Callebaut chocolate, freshly made strawberry compote (fresh strawberries, sugar, cornstarch), freshly made raspberry compote (fresh raspberries, sugar, cornstarch), fresh lemon curd (fresh lemon, egg yolks, sugar, butter), cream cheese, icing sugar, peppermint flavouring, peanut butter, hazelnut puree.
Fondant/Marzipan/Gumpaste – We purchase these decorating products commercially prepared and though they are all 100% edible and lots of people love it, we recommend they be treated like an edible adornment and left out of your tummy for the same reasons we urge you not to eat a Twinkie or a Ding Dong #preservatives


  • Do you make nut-free/gluten-free cakes?

Though we do try our best to accommodate nut-free orders by not baking anything with nuts on the same day. This is not a certified nut-free environment and we cannot guarantee that the products produced here will not contain traces of nuts.  So consume at your own discretion.
Sorry, we do not offer any gluten-free cake options at this time.
